Meeting the Challenge of Challenging Behavior
This workshop introduces the concept of identifying the “functions of behaviors” and ways to use that information to prevent and handle behaviors. Methods include visual cues, choices, cool-down, and planned transitions. Ways to conference with families will be covered. This training will need to be at least 3.5 hours.
Thematic Planning
This workshop explains why the use of themes is beneficial and can actually prevent unwanted behaviors. Planning strategies are outlined in detail. Topics include selection of age-appropriate activities, embedding skills, avoiding wait-time, and cross curricular activities.
Circle Time Survival
This workshop prepares teachers to plan and lead a fun and interactive circle
time. Methods covered include selecting age-appropriate activities, preparation, props use, and timing. Embedding of motor and language skills as well as cross-curricular themes will be included.
Central Ideas for Centers
This workshop will cover the following aspects of the use of centers: room arrangement/traffic flow, stocking centers, labeling, providing choices, transitions, clean-up time, and rules. Creating "centers" for infants will also be addressed.
Data Collection
This workshop teaches a user-friendly method for daily data collection. Participants will learn ways to analyze data, use that information to create plans that embed skills, and individualize instruction.
